Biography

Zhao Renhui was awarded The Young Artist Award in 2010, the highest national accolade awarded to young artists in Singapore by the National Arts Council. In the same year he received a Post-graduate Scholarship from The University of the Arts London.
Renhui has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions including at The Singapore Art Museum, Jendela (Singapore), The Substation (Singapore), Fukouka Asian Art Museum (Japan), Michel Foley Gallery (New York), Photo Levallois (Paris), Seoul Arts Center (Korea), Pickford House Museum (Derby, UK), PhotoIreland, Flash Forward Festival (Toronto, Canada) and Flowers East Gallery(London).
Renhui’s work is based on the concept of doubt and uncertainty and in his creation, The Institute of Critical Zoologists (ICZ), he tests to the limit the principles behind the dissemination of knowledge and acceptance of truths. The ICZ was selected by Pauline J Yao for her ‘Best of 2010’ in the publication Art Forum.
